In July 1969, Elvis Presley took to the stage at the International Hotel in Las Vegas to cement his status as a headliner with a historic run of shows that ended up lasting seven years – until his death in 1977. Although not captured on the double album From Memphis to Vegas / From Vegas to Memphis, which was contains live recordings of his hits from the iconic Las Vegas venue and was released in October 1969, "Medley Yesterday / Hey Jude" sees the King of Rock 'n' Roll put his own croon-powered string on the Beatles' sweeping 1966 track "Yesterday," featuring a backup choir and glowing strings, before segueing effortlessly – and triumphantly – into "Hey Jude," the band's chart-topping track that had been released as a non-album single in 1968. Elvis Presley is widely credited with shaking up Las Vegas entertainment, and this medley offers a glimpse into his iconic showmanship.
