American country artist Zach Bryan first emerged onto the country music scene back in 2017 when a video of him performing the song "Heading South" went viral on social media. The Oklahoma Navy veteran quickly seized on the momentum by releasing his studio debut DeAnn (2019), a heartfelt tribute to his late mother written in just two months and recorded with friends at a Florida bed and breakfast. DeAnn was well received by critics, who praised the stripped-down sound of the album as well as his insightful brand of songwriting. He would repeat this DIY approach to recording on his second release, 2020's Elisabeth. Recorded at a repurposed barn behind his home in Washington, the album still bore the lo-fi charm of its predecessor while simultaneously adding sparse bits of instrumentation. Such is the case of album closer "Revival," an upbeat country song about shedding light on our past transgressions by sharing them with our loved ones. The track was written and produced by Zach Bryan, and features off-kilter vocal harmonies by his friends J. R. Carroll and Caleb Bunchfink.
